Mystery of the Internal Vibration

Entry for February 17, 2007

This morning I’m starting to feel the effects of the copper. I can feel my nose getting better everyday with less stuffiness. It’s the best results I’ve had so far. I’ve also noticed a very subtle difference with my internal vibration. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there is a very slight, noticeable difference. I havn’t felt the vibration at night over the past few days and it’s almost non existent in the mornings. Finally, something that works.

As I was sorting through my vitamins, I’m trying to add a bit of calcium and I notice that this particular formula contains some zinc. So the calcium is out.

I went to a cousin’s first birthday party today and I was a little worried about the food that would be served so I picked some plain yogurt at a nearby supermarket. The kids played for a little bit and then it was pizza and pop. I decided I’ve been on this diet now for a couple of weeks now so maybe it’s time for something new. So I eat a couple slices of pizza and luckily, they have some bottled water but I didn’t bother having any of the yogurt.

Later in the day, I can feel my nose getting more irritated and it’s probably the pizza. So for dinner, I go back on the diet. The interesting this is I’ve noticed that whenever my nose is plugged up, I usually have thrush. Why? Candida is responsible for both.

Still have the thrush so after today, it’s goodbye to the silver. The stuffiness in my nose has been quite sore the past couple of days and I think it’s linked to the added thrush I’ve had recently. I had an idea.

Is it possible to use colloidal silver as a nasal spray? Yup.

Colloidal Silver Nasal Spray, 10 PPM

ADULTS: Take 1 – 4 sprays per day for no more than 10 days at a time. This product is not intended for long term use.

In a matter of three days, my chronic sinusitis was totally under control by using colloical silver nasal spray at the recommended usage. Wonderful! Thanks. M. Cummins

So around lunch time, I take one spray into each nostril.

Today I wanted to try going back to the garlic. I don’t really have the time to take it when I’m home on the weekends. So it’s back to work, and back to taking garlic. I wanted to try a higher dosage and I manage to eat three cloves of garlic before noon.

I checked in the mirror and I have thrush. It’s been better than this so how did it get worse? I had a cucumber for breakfast, plain yogurt and garlic so how did I get thrush?

I mentioned my morning experiment with my wife and she checked with her friend who also has candida. He said that taking garlic will kill the good bacteria as well as the bad and was the reason I have thrush. I can’t imagine garlic being that bad so I decide to do some research:

Supporting probiotics with diet

It’s important to support probiotic use and your existing friendly flora through optimal nutrition, especially by minimizing refined sugar and processed foods in your diet. For more information refer to our nutritional and lifestyle guidelines.

Good bacteria feast on fiber. The bad guys love refined sugar and animal fat. Given a ready supply of vegetables, legumes and whole grains, good bacteria live long and prosper. Polyphenols, found in foods like garlic, green tea and ginseng, are also helpful in fostering friendly flora.

Fermented foods such as miso, tempeh, soy sauce and yogurt are renowned for their health-boosting qualities. They introduce active probiotic cultures that help wedge out unfriendly bacteria by competing directly with two main food poisoners: the toxic strains of E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Many longevity experts have extolled the health benefits of eating fermented foods — now you know why!

A few nutrients called prebiotics have been isolated that set the stage for probiotic survival. These include fructooligosaccharides (FOS), and inulin, which are natural sugars found in bananas, chicory root, onions, leeks, fruit, soybeans, sweet potatoes, asparagus and some whole grains. Prebiotics help probiotics survive passage through the acidity of the stomach and foster their growth in the intestines and colon.

A night of trying to find any reference to the fact that garlic is bad for your intestinal flora and I’ve found nothing. The above article states that garlic is good for your flora so I don’t know what to think. I ate three cloves of garlic and I ate them with plain yogurt. Then I come across another reference:

Some manufacturers have enteric-coated their garlic powder so that it would bypass the stomach. Assuming the best, that a high quality garlic powder is used initially (one that is not exposed to high temperatures which can deactivate alliinase), this form of garlic could potentially deliver alliin and alliinase to the intestinal tract. However, simulated intestinal fluids have been shown to inhibit 40% of the allicin production. The remaining allicin may exert anti-microbial effects on bad bacteria, however, it may also destroy friendly bacteria.

So does this explain the thrush? Possibly, but I’m also using the Colloidal Silver. Can that have an effect on the friendly bacteria? Yup…

Top grade Colloidal Silver contains 99.999% pure colloidal silver particles 0.0001 microns in diameter with a concentration of 20 parts per million that have little effect on the friendly bacteria in our digestive tract. However, be aware of products with higher concentrations as they can attack friendly bacteria just like some antibiotics. This could upset your natural balance and lead to other complications. With colloidal silver, higher concentrations are not necessarily better. As a matter of fact, the opposite is usually true.

The spray that I have is only 5 to 6 ppm but I’ll see if there is any change tomorrow without the garlic and if not, I’ll stop taking it altogether.

Day Two of the Garlic/Yogurt combination.

I can feel my tongue with that itchy thrush kind of feeling. I’ve stopped the “yeast killing” supplements and switched to this internet remedy. I’ve cut down on my sugar intake but this time I’m trying to be as strict as possible. The sweets of Christmas may have really messed me up. Sometimes I really feel like it’s an addiction. I check in the mirror and my tongue is covered in yeast.

I’ve stopped eating junk food sugar completely for over a week now so why is it getting worse? I remember checking my tongue all of the time when I was getting acupuncture and it was never like this and she never made any comments about thrush.

Woke up with no vibration…this is definitely working. Now that I understand homeopathic remedies a little better, I decide to look up the remedy that the naturopath gave me. It was called “Calc Carb” and here is what I find:

Calcium Carbonate

The Calc  Carb type is generally plump, chilly and under-active. Perhaps due to a slow metabolism, they are sluggish and have a shy contemplative nature. They tend to be unambitious and non-competitive and are great procrastinators. They lack confidence and avoid responsibility.

They can have a big appetite with a liking for sweets, cakes and eggs and be overweight. They are easily tired and can suffer with head sweats or joint abnormalities.

Weak areas of the body include the bones and teeth, bowels, ears, nose and throat, glands and skin.

This remedy is made from calcium carbonate, which is derived from the oyster shell. The type of person needing this remedy is quiet, cautious and very sensitive. Generally they are very healthy and enthusiastic in their work. In contrast, when they become ill, they become introspective and lacking motivation.

Calc Carb is often used to treat back and joint pains, headaches, ear or eye infections, eczema, thrush, digestion, PMS.

So she gave me calcium. No wonder it had no effect and didn’t work. I’m guessing she gave it to me for the suspected “candida” treating the thrush and digestion. I don’t have any of the other symptoms it’s used for.

Knowing what I know now, I’m not quite sure why she gave this to me. She gave me this homeopathic remedy on my first visit and my main symptom was neurological. The stomach bloating and digestion problems were the secondary symptom. At the time I don’t believe I had any thrush and I know for sure she didn’t check my tongue.

That’s another thing I find weird. If there was a suspected candida overgrowth, wouldn’t I be displaying thrush on my tongue and shouldn’t that be an obvious place to check? The accupuncture doctor was the only one to even look at my tongue and she never mentioned candida.
