Diary of Unknown Symptoms

Mystery of the Internal Vibration

Entry for June 14, 2006

In my research with Iridology, I come across the web site for the largest naturopathic and allergy clinic in North America and it happens to be in Toronto. I’ve never heard of it. One of the doctors wrote an article on Allergies:

By Dr. Fateh Srajeldin N.D.

Allergies are hyper-reactive and adverse (systemic or total) bodily responses to a stimulus or multiple stimuli (antigens). These antigens are harmless to most people, but others show hyper-reaction when allergens gain access into the domain of their body. This hyper-reaction is a response from the body and a message to inform us of changes in the general status of the body. It is also one of many attempts of the body to free itself from the invading stimuli. The reaction is a protective measure from the body to reduce or nullify the effects of such stimuli. Many patients claim that they did not have allergies. They use the excuse that they never had allergies before. While I know that the statement is true, I also know that a diabetic never had diabetes before and a hypertensive patient did not have hypertension before. Therefore, the excuse of «I did not have allergies before» does not hold water any more and is insufficient to stamp a patient with allergy free individual.

Blood tests, skin tests and food elimination or rotation are not diagnostic tools for allergies. The only factors that determine patient’s allergies are the patient’s history of symptoms, its duration and periodicity. Allergy testing only confirms or denies your suspicion of allergies. Symptoms and history come first, tests come second.
Inherited or acquired.

During history taking a strong attempt is directed to find out whether the patient’s allergies are inherited at birth from parents or grandparents, or are allergies acquired after birth from patient’s life style, eating habits, work environment and medications. Acquired allergies arise from altered body ecology due to usage of medications, improper diet, and unhealthy lifestyle. Allergies caused by factors other than inheritance must not be treated as allergies. This type of allergies is considered as «an allergy like symptoms» not true allergies. The lymphatic system in this case would be congested due to medications, yeast or toxins. Further, at the same token the liver is weakened and unable to meet the body’s detoxification demands. In this case the cause of the problem is addressed during the treatment not the allergies that the patient is presenting.

Inherited allergies are attached to the body genetically and would be controlled by an extensive history taking during the first visit then a blood sample is drawn to evaluate the level of allergens in the sample. Blood sample would identify 200 different foods plus 50 inhalant allergens.

Allergies are classified according to the allergic response.

Type I
• is IgE mediated allergic reaction
• includes drugs, urticaria, anaphylaxis, angioedema and stings.

Type II
• is complement-dependent and involves 1gM or IgG antibodies, where the antibody is fixed on the circulating blood cell and than destroyed (cytolytic and cytotoxic)
• includes the following disorders due to drug interactions: systemic lupus erythematosus, lupoid hepatitis, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura and agranulocytosis.

Type III
• is an immune complex disease
• involves IgG where a drug reaction is demonstrated by serum sickness
• includes arthralgia, arthritis, urticaria skin eruption, lymphadenopathy and fever
• the reaction may last for up to 2 weeks or until the offending drug is eliminated by the liver and the kidney.

Type IV
• is a cell mediated delayed hypersensitivity with I cells type lymphocytes, which occurs in 24-48 hours after exposure.
• an example of such a reaction is contact dermatitis due to topically applied substances such as drug or poison.

What are allergens?
There are approximately 1.4 million different pollen and ragweeds in one teaspoon. Only four are needed to trigger an allergic reaction in a susceptible patient. Some allergens are: dusts, ragweeds, pollens, drugs, molds, grasses, animal hair, animal dandruff.

Reduced digestive enzymes or co-enzymes due to digestive problems and/or poor structure or due to heredity induce IgA and Gamma globulin.

It was found that some vaccines destroy I-regulatory cells that are produced by the thymus. These cells help reduce allergic effects. Vaccines, chemical exposure and some drugs reduce the effects of the I-regulatory cells or destroy them. Most vaccines are based on the introduction of bacteria, virus or their antigen into the blood stream. Such bacteria, virus or antigen are made of proteins that are foreign to the body. Most allergic reactions after a vaccination are related to the body’s reaction to that protein. Some individuals develop allergies shortly after vaccination.

Food and food additives
Some foods contain elements that the body is not familiar with it to digest it. Gluten, milk protein, milk sugar (lactase) are proteins that the body may not be able to digest them and consequently react to them upon ingestion. Not being able to digest any protein means that its presence would lead to mal-absorption of any food that contains the protein in question. At the first attempt to ingest such protein the intestine react to its presence by flattening its villi. Such intestinal reaction would lead to abdominal pains, gas, diarrhea or indigestion as follows:

I. expedite the transit time of unwanted food to prevent its absorption
II. shorten its exposure time in the intestine to lessen its adverse effects
III. the downfall of this procedure is that the body would absorb other material present in the intestine that it would have otherwise not absorbed.

Organic weakness due to lifestyle
Weakness of the lymphatic system, thinning of the intestinal walls, the liver and the thymus.

Chronic infections
Ear infections, tonsillitis, digestive track abnormalities, mononucleosis, chronic fatigue symptom, PMS (females only) and hepatitis.

Candida albicans
Antibiotics, birth control pills, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy set the stage for fungal infections by altering the bowel’s flora. The once controlled fungus, invades the intestinal mucosa to the flora making fenestrations in the flora exposing the species to the blood system. Once in the blood stream, it invades the uterine and vaginal cells, among other organs and tissues. Allergies develop over time with these patients due to the presence and over growth of fungus.

Destroys cellular enzymes that lead to cellular distress.
Improper weaning during infancy
In the span between birth and first birthday many parents make many irresponsible dietary mistakes with their infants that set the stage to allergies to settle in their children’s body. An improper weaning of your infant may lead to the introduction of certain by-products and toxins into the liver. Being unable to break these toxins down, their presence congests and weakens the liver. As a reaction to allergens in the body produces histamine, the liver’s role is to remove it from the body. Due to its weakness and congestion, however, the liver struggles in removing histamine and consequently, histamine builds up in the body leading to more allergic reactions. The best place to start allergy treatment is at the liver.

Allergies start as a reaction to one type of food, food additives or food colourings. The body would attempt to capture whatever is causing the allergy and remove it. Repeated introduction of the same allergens would weaken the body organs. Further weakness of the organs would surface allergic symptoms.

Symptoms of allergy
General symptoms include pain, epistaxis, weight loss, night sweats (excluding hypoglycemia), temperature, tonsillitis, fatigue and frequent cold; sneezing, cough, itchy eyes, ears, nose and root of the mouth.

Past medical history: physical and psychological Family history: parents, grand parents on sides, brothers, sisters, etc.
History of signs and symptoms: in-uterine history, infancy, childhood, teens and adulthood.

Foods to eliminate
Sugar including all its names, shapes, forms and disguise; milk, wheat, gluten, eggs, coffee, tea, citrus fruits, MSG.

Chew food well, do not eat fruits with your meals and do not drink water during meals.

Order of tests
I. Food rotation
II. IgG, IgE, 260 food allergens in serum test
III. The radioallergosorbent test (RAST)
IV. Cytotyxic allergy test
V. The cardiovascular test (complimentary)

Must be hypoallergenic: Vitamin A, Vitamin E, glutathione, quercetin, echinacea and zinc.

Lyphosot drops, Chelidonium drops, Co-Enzyme drops.

I do some more research on Iridology when I get home and I find a web site called the International Iridology Practitioners Association. It lists IIPA Certified Iridologists for the US and Canada. I scroll down to Canada and find Diane E. Elms, CCI, CIP, Ancaster, Ontario, Canada “2006 Iridologist of the Year”. This sounds good and she has a web site.

On her web site it mentions that she is a photographer and that for $100 she does reading over the internet if you provide her good detailed pictures of your iris.

I send her an email and include my pictures…

Woke up this morning with the vibration again. Didn’t notice any effect from using the Melatonin….

At the request of a friend, I take my EMF meter to work. He wanted to know the safe range of the microwave radiation. We’re in the lunchroom and we figure out the safe distance with the microwave on. Then we discover that there is still EMF from the microwave even when it’s turned off. HOLY COW! We check the other microwave and it’s the same.

We decide to check our cell phones with the meter. For my phone there is no EMF while it is on and when it rings, it peaks at the safe level of 2. We try my friends phone and it reads very high when the phone rings. As we are doing this, another friend wants to test his cell phone and it measures very high and it’s not even ringing!

Later I ask him if I could get a picture for the blog and he agrees. He comes over to my desk and he places the phone down and I put the meter beside it to get a photo. The meter reads nothing whatsoever. I check the meter and it’s turned on but there is no reading.

He puts it back into the leather case and I try it again in disbelief. This time it reads off the chart. Huh? He takes it out of the case and there is no reading. I put the meter next to the case and it reads high again. It’s reading high on the magnet clip that keeps the phone inside the pouch.

This is very weird…electromagnetic radiation from a magnet? Is this what they call healthy magnetic therapy? Or is this the bad kind of EMF? I have to do some more research when I have time…

Here’s the chart for the left iris.

This is the iris for my left eye. I have those deep grooves again on the top of the iris and again, it’s the area of the cerebrum. I have some distinct marks on the bottom but I can’t figure out from the chart what it means… it’s in the area of the sigmoid which from the chart, is a part of the lower colon.

But I’ve recently had a colonoscopy and nothing was found. If there was a problem with the sigmoid, they would’ve found something. That is…if I’m reading it properly…

This is the iris for my right eye. I compare it to the chart and the first thing I look at is the loop groove at the bottom. On the chart it matches an area for the appendix. I have some deep grooves at the top of the eye and this is the cerebrum part of the brain. Not sure what this means but it certainly looks interesting.

I know I’ve had some very weird symptoms in my head almost from the beginning and it’s more of a feeling than a symptom. It feels like something is not quite right, like an imbalance, a heaviness. I notice this weird feeling the most when I tilt my head back and hold it there for a while. When I move it back to normal, I have this feeling like the fluid in my brain was heavier than usual. Almost like an equilibrium imbalance inside my head. Could this be related to the cerebrum?

I could never describe it properly so other than the “head pinching” I don’t think I ever mentioned it to any doctor.

After spending most of the evening reading about iridology, I come across a web site with the Universal Iridology Chart. This chart combines the American, European & Australian Charts into one.

Practitioners claim to be able to understand an individual’s state of health and to diagnose disease by examining the color, texture, and location of various pigment flecks. Iridologists state that disease is due to “imbalances” which can be treated by nutritional supplementation with vitamins, minerals, and herbs. Others claim to be able to uncover a complete past medical history, including such things as surgical removal of the appendix. Future health problems are also not out of reach for some practitioners who feel they can diagnose severe disease well before symptoms present themselves.

How Can It Help?

Iris analysis shows basic constitution, its inherent fixed strengths and weaknesses, and gives a baseline for building and maintaining health. Since the iris changes with fluctuations in body health, it provides an ongoing picture of internal conditions and is an effective way to monitor healing. It gives the individual the opportunity to understand and take responsibility for his or her own body.

Iridology shows the state of body tissues, toxic deposits, inflammation, physical and mental fatigue and stress, preclinical stages of disease and healing. However, iridology cannot determine such things as blood pressure, medications being used, pregnancy, tumors, hemorrhage, gallstones, kidney stones or blocked arteries.

Tissue conditions are revealed at four levels of the iris: acute, subacute, chronic and degenerative. Iridology reveals problems in the formative stages, before any disease symptoms have started to appear, so early corrective action can be taken.

How Does It Work?

The eyes are an extension of the brain via the optic nerves. The nerve fibers that end in the iris connect to the entire body. Different parts of the iris correspond to different parts of the body. The presence or absence of certain markings in the iris reflects the condition of the associated body part. There is almost 120 years of scientific data showing the accuracy of iris analysis.

The Jensen charts show the eyes and map body parts to correspond to certain areas of the iris. There are 166 areas: eighty-six in the left iris and eighty in the right iris. The layout of the eye charts is analogous to the body with the brain at the top, the feet at the bottom, the skin on the outside and the bowels on the inside. The right eye reflects the right side of the body and the left eye reflects the left side.

Nutrition is often used as an associated therapy after iridology indicates which areas of the body need healing. Iridology nutrition charts show which vitamins, minerals and herbs are helpful for different areas of the body.

If Iridology is linked to nutrition and can determine what areas of the body are being effected, then this might the breakthrough I’ve been waiting for. I’ve had my appendix removed when I was about seven years old so it will be interesting to see if I can find that on the charts. If I can take a picture of my iris, compare it to the chart… who knows what I can discover and maybe I’ll find out where the problem lies and that’s my biggest problem.

I was reading my friend’s article again about his health care experiences and the eventual discovery of a tapeworm. He turned to alternative methods and contacted a woman named Leah Findlay, a self-made health professional. Leah is a very eclectic health professional knowledgeable in iridology, nutrition, reflexology and Chinese medicine.

My biggest problem is that I’m really guessing at what the problem is. No doctor has been able to diagnosis the root cause of the problem. I’d never heard of iridology so I look it up to find out more.

What is iridology or iris analysis?

Iri and iris come from the Greek name of the goddess of the rainbow, Iris. The Greeks noted eyes come in many, many colors. And ology also comes from the Greek, meaning study of. Literally translated, iridology means the study of the coloration of the eye.

The iris reveals changing conditions of every part and organ of the body. Every organ and part of the body is represented in the iris in a well defined area. In addition, through various marks, signs, and discoloration in the iris, nature reveals inherited weaknesses and strengths.

By means of this art / science, an iridologist (one who studies the coloration and fiber structure of the eye) can tell an individual his/her inherited and acquired tendencies towards health and disease, his current condition in general, and the state of every organ in particular.

Iridology cannot detect a specific disease, but, can tell an individual if they have over or under activity in specific areas of the body. For example, an under-active pancreas might indicate a diabetic condition.

History of Iridology

Iridology cannot detect a specific disease but it can tell an individual if they have over or under activity in specific areas of the body. For example, an under-active pancreas might indicate a diabetic condition. It is a preventive practice that helps people to understand their basic health issues so that they can seek treatment, if necessary, from the appropriate specialist. According to iridologists, if a health problem is detected at an early stage, something can then be done to prevent it from becoming a full-blown disease.

The idea that the eyes are a mirror to the body is an ancient one: The Greek physician Hippocrates was known to examine patients’ eyes for signs of illness. It wasn’t until 1670, however, that the first actual medical reference to iridology as a diagnostic tool appeared in German physician Phillipus Meyens’ book Chiromatica Medica.

In the late-19th century Hungarian physician Ignatz von Peczely and Swedish clergyman Nils Liljequist independently advanced theories connecting the markings of the iris with tendencies toward specific ailments. Both men’s interests stemmed from experiences in their childhoods.

As a boy, Peczely accidentally broke the leg of an owl and then noticed a black mark that subsequently appeared in the bird’s iris. Later, in his medical practice, he noted similar marks in the eyes of his human patients who’d suffered a fracture. For his part, Liljequist contracted malaria in his teens and was treated with quinine and iodine. As the drugs accumulated in his system, he noticed that his blue eyes were turning a darker color. After he later became a homeopath, he found similar reactions in his patients as well.
